Our team provided comprehensive landscape architecture services for the redevelopment of a retail shopping center in Holyoke, Massachusetts. The project included three commercial buildings, each designed with a drive-through, requiring thoughtful site planning and coordinated landscape design to create a cohesive and welcoming environment. The landscape plan established a consistent plant palette across the entire property to unify the development and enhance the overall visual identity of the shopping center.
A strong emphasis was placed on native plant species and sustainable landscape design reducing long-term maintenance needs. In remote areas of the site, no-mow seed mixes were incorporated to encourage naturalization. Throughout the property, planting beds featuring perennials, groundcover, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and trees were designed to break up large parking areas, soften building edges, and enhance the appearance of the drive-through facilities and pedestrian spaces. This project demonstrates how thoughtful landscape architecture for retail developments can transform commercial sites into attractive, functional environments that balance aesthetics, sustainability, and long-term site performance.
